This luxury estate home in the exclusive neighborhood of Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club was purchased as a vacation home by a family in New Jersey. Rausa Builders Corp. has extensive experience working on home renovations for absentee owners. We understand the trust & responsibility entailed with a project on a vacation or investment property where the owner can not be present.
These traits made us the perfect fit for their home renovation project, although it would not have been possible without the close collaboration of Rausa Builders Corp, the homeowner and their interior designer, E.Jeanne Costine Interior Design.
Foyer, Stairs & Living Room
Upon entering this newly renovated home you are greeted by a marble staircase with a solid steel handrail in black. The marble on the staircase was cut from 3/4″ slabs of French Vanilla marble. A light grey 24″ x 24″ porcelain tile was laid on the remaining floors.
The living room features windows, arches and french doors with high-impact glass for hurricane protection and natural light. The accented fireplace is wrapped in an interlocking stone tile made by Island Stone, that creates a nice contrast to the smooth walls with its wave mesh pattern.
Common Areas Remodeled
No shortcuts were taken on the common areas of the home either. In the center is a wet-bar across from the half bathroom. The wet-bar features high-gloss white cabinets, a wine cooler and a full granite backsplash. The half bathroom has a floating vanity and granite countertop. Both, the wet-bar’s and half bathroom’s blue granite were cut from the same 3/4″ slab of Blue Macauba granite.
At the rear of the home’s first floor you will find the dining room, Florida room (a.k.a. sunroom) and cabana bathroom with access to the garden and pool area. The marine theme of this vacation home continues through these areas with soft arches, aquatic decor and wave pattern wall tile in the bathroom.
Renovated Kitchen
The new kitchen cabinets are made by Mia Cucina and are mostly wood grain with a complimentary section of grey high-gloss upper cabinets. All appliances installed are “built-in” appliances and are manufactured by Wolf®, Sub-Zero® or Asko®.
The built-in refrigerator sits across from the microwave and single oven. The fully integrated dishwasher is hidden behind a wood grain panel to match the lower cabinets. Next to the oven is the glass cook-top with a swing-out pot filler faucet and a stainless steel hood. The kitchen countertop and full backsplash are made of Fresh Linens quartz. A waterfall edge can be found at one end of the countertop, near the sink.

Family Room, Hall & Laundry Room
The large family room (a.k.a. great room) features high ceilings with modern & natural lighting. Just around the corner is a hallway to the laundry room, stairs and guest rooms. The floor in the hallway transitions to French Vanilla marble from the porcelain tile in the family room. The French Vanilla marble continues on the staircase tread while the risers feature an artisan cement tile named Barcelona.
The same artisan cement tile was installed in the floor of the laundry room with high-gloss blue cabinets to match. The laundry room also features a stainless steel toe-kick, quartz counter & under cabinet LED lighting.
Guest Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Each guest bedroom in this home renovation had high-impact windows, its own bathroom and plenty of closet space. All bathrooms feature a floating vanity, glass shower/tub enclosure, 18″ white subway wall tiles & plumbing fixtures in a complimentary chrome finish. Shower enclosures have mosaic tile floors and marble slab thresholds.
Renovated Master Bedroom & Bath
The master bedroom resides on the 2nd floor and features high ceilings with soffits, modern lighting and natural light from the impact windows and doors that lead to the balcony. The large his & hers master closet contains a small laundry area with a washer and dryer.
The master bathroom walls and floors were wrapped in marble planks. A freestanding tub was installed to the right, a double shower enclosure at center and floating double vanity to the right with the water closet directly across.
Before & After Home Renovation Photos
The following gallery consists of before & after photos displaying various sections of this home renovation project in Coral Gables. Although this luxury home was originally built in 1996 with the high-quality materials & decor of its time, it was now missing over 20 years of innovation. Energy efficient appliances, air conditioning and lighting are just some of the modern upgrades that made this home renovation project a success.
